Comfort & Style: Velvet Slippers

What do Kanye West, Mary Kate Olsen, Olivia Palmero, Sarah Jessica Parker, Denzel Washington and model Agyness Deyn all have in common? They all love Stubbs and Wootton.  Known for it’s stylish shoes and slippers for men and women; each pair is unique and handcrafted.

What’s the scoop on this brand?  In 2010, Cassius Clay a 19 year old Yale-dropout-turned-Kanye-West’s-stylist introduced Kanye to Stubbs and Wootton velvet slippers while they bumped into each other while shopping at Barneys. The rumour is Kanye was SO taken with the slippers that he urged Clay to drop out of college.  The next day, Kanye signed up to work with Stubbs and Wootton with Clay right at his side. His line was due out Spring 2011.

Who knew? Maybe I should try just walking around a well known New York City department store everyday and get picked up by a celebrity to become their new fashion muse.  It’s worth giving it a try right?

Their most popular line is their collection with their classic black velvet slipper with embroidery, tassel, and crest detail, even some with lobsters, pirates, crowns and haloed skulls.   You can expect to shell out about $395 US though.

Completely effortless and perfect with jeans, sundress or a suit; these shoes are far from boring- they’re classically preppy, and edgy with just enough flair. Just look at their “Screw U” slippers…enough said.
