Want to have amazing hair like the celebrities you see below?  Even though I’m sure they have a whole styling team that helps them look the way they do, there’s a lot of stuff you can do at home to help you have healthy hair as well!  Summer is FINALLY here and with all that chlorine and sun damage that you’re exposed to it can really harm the health of your hair! Not only does your hair feel and look not up-to-par but how can you feel stylish in that long colourful maxi dress you just bought without shiny and bright hair?


  • The first thing to think about is maintenance.  To keep shine, remember to do a hair mask deep conditioner every week or try a hair treatment that you can buy at any drugstore that helps restore shine and colour once a month.
  • Another little trick you can do is to blast your hair with a cold temperature. Like if you’re in the shower, right before you get out try to run your hair with cold water.  Also when you’re drying your hair blast your hair with cold air for extra shine!
  • Eat well because it can really affect your hair if you don’t.  Try flax seed oil, salmon (and other omega fatty fish), walnuts (nuts in general), vitamins b6 and b12 and lots of protein and you’ll have beautiful hair in no time.
  • Wash your hair EVERY OTHER DAY. I can’t stress it enough that having natural oils in your hair can keep help it.  A lot of people can’t help but wash it everyday- I fall under this category (sad).
  • Do NOT rub your hair when you get out of the shower, try to  scrunch/blot it with a towel or else you’ll look like a frizzy disaster.
  • Your hair is MOST fragile when it’s wet so don’t comb it when it’s damp.  If you must then try a wide tooth com (people with curly hair know where it’s at)
  • Drying your hair naturally is a lot better than damaging your hair with heat all the time.
  • When you’re getting into a pool, it is so key to wet your hair/shower before you do.  The wetter your hair the less the chlorine can affect it.

If all is lost and there’s some SERIOUS damage to your hair. Here are a couple DIY things you can do at home.

  • If you have chlorine damage/your hair is now the colour of broccoli  try to counteract that with KETCHUP.
  • Another thing you can do to counteract chlorine damage is VODKA (yes, vodka). Shampoo your hair then rinse your hair covering your eyes with a mixture of a half cup of vodka and four cups of hot water.
  • DISH SOAP– I know it sounds weird but mix it with some baking soda to create a paste to remove chlorine. Put it on the ends of your hair, rinse, and use conditioner after wards.
  • For an at home hair mask try RAW EGGS, OLIVE OIL AND VINEGAR. Leave it in for 30 minutes.
  • To keep your hair colour as vivid as the day you coloured it try a mixture of APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (one tablespoon) and three cups of warm water. Rinse your hair with this solution once a week.

    I will deeeefinitely try blotting my hair in the toilet sometime 😉
